James’s grandfather, Aloysius Koroma, fled Liberia during the civil war after ensuring his children’s safe passage to America. Navigating the chaos, he migrated through Sierra Leone, Mali, Nigeria, and Ghana, holding tightly to his fragrant aspirations. In 2005, he finally reunited with his family in the U.S., where his five-year-old grandson, James, eagerly awaited him.
Young James often shadowed his grandfather, watching him craft fragrances to send back to Liberia. Those cherished moments planted the seeds of inspiration that would one day bloom into Koroma's Aromas.
